DIY water filter installs seem simple enough - until they're not. We get calls like this more than you'd think. A homeowner in Flintstone had taken a shot at installing their own under-sink filtration system, and somewhere along the way things went sideways. The setup wasn't right, and clean water wasn't flowing the way it should be.
Here's what we were working with: an Aquasana multi-stage filter system tucked under the kitchen sink alongside a secondary whole-house-style canister unit. Both needed to be properly connected and working together. Getting in there, we sorted out the hookups, made sure every line was feeding correctly, and got the whole system dialed in so it would actually do its job.
The dedicated filter faucet - that brushed nickel spigot mounted right at the sink - is how the homeowner accesses their filtered water directly. It's a clean setup when it's done right. Getting that faucet properly tied into the filtration system underneath is one of those details that has to be exact. A loose fitting or a crossed line and you're either getting unfiltered water or no water at all from that tap.
Water filtration systems are worth the investment, but only when they're installed correctly. We've seen plenty of cases where a well-intentioned DIY attempt left the homeowner in a worse spot than before - leaks under the cabinet, improper flow, or a filter that's technically installed but not actually filtering anything. Getting it right from the start saves a lot of headaches down the road.
If your under-sink filter hookup isn't right, or you've got a system that was self-installed and you're not sure it's working the way it should, we're happy to come take a look. Getting clean water in your home shouldn't be a guessing game.
